Realtors(R) … you got two options:

Plan A: Quit!

Plan B: For those who stay in the real estate biz, an extraordinary opportunity.

Here you go:

1. Become The Expert

2. Be The Best

3. Be The Mayor of Your Zip Code. (Cool new Squidoo toy… for Realtors(R) only)

4. Build a Community of Rabid Fans around your business.

5. Have these rabid fans spread your story through viral marketing.

Hummm… that smells like basic marketing…

Doesn’t it?

Ya think that could work for you too?

Marketer(R)

(I don’t just write about marketing, I’m a professional.(R)… that’s an inside joke from a real estate agent, not a Realtor(R), who sold me a couple houses in Colorado Springs… thanks Rich!)

Great concept from Squidoo. It should work well for realtors.

    Thanks Mark…

Seems like the ideas would work for other local small business owners too…

Or, do they need Seth to tell ‘em to quit and create a Squidoo product for ‘em?

That’s a pretty good tool to start off with, thanks!

Come back and tell us about your Zip Code and your results.

    Should be interesting.

    Walt,
Didn’t you just love that post? One can only hope it was a wake up call to some…Specially Plan A!
Hopefully Plan B is what the one’s that are truly interested in improving and/or continuing business are going with!
I think it’s the whole “business is bad - lets cut back on marketing” syndrom - whether on- or offline - that needs to be overcome. And Squidoo might be one of the cures for it …

Speaking of Colorado Springs Real Estate…

    Hey Sabine!

This is gonna really piss off some Realtors(R), but tough.

Realtors as a whole are some of the worst business people I’ve encountered in my financial/marketing career.

Now, a real estate agent who thinks like an entrepreneur and knows how to market  WILL  clean up in this current market.( I personally witnessed that happen in Colorado Springs in the late ’80s…)

Squidoo is just one of the tools, one of the tactics.

It takes the a commitment to the 5 steps I outlined.

Seth’s right, if you believe business is bad…

Get the Hell Out… Get a J-O-B! (That applies for any business)

    Walt

Hi all: remember, the seller and buyer still need brokers. So dont quit. In fact what i am seeing in real estate business is that the sellers are paying more to the brokers (like in our company we now a days pay 3% for co-op brokers).
Of Course business is slow and hence why dont you spend some time learning SEM so when the market rebounds, you will be a better internet broker!
    Good luck.
