5. Easy site navigation. Categories and monthly archives.

6. Good, solid useful content that I can scan and choose if I want to Bookmark.

    Agreed, simple websites are often key to getting the most out of your content.
    There are too many sites out there which may look pretty, but when it comes down to actually getting some useful information, or navigating your way around you can often find it difficult and your interest will drop.
    Simple design can also be a benefit when optimising your site, John Krycek has written an interesting article on the SEO v Design arguement.

    Thanks Dan,

    John’s article makes some good points.

    1. You have 5 seconds to capture the visitor to your site, especially in a “Stumble” world.

    2. It’s all about content. Your readers will not engage your content if the design is too confusing.

    As Malcolm Gladwell states in blink:

    Your readers are “listening with their eyes.”
