Walt,Great list - I think I have read everyone on your list (several times) and if most entrepreneurs just simply studied the above listed books and applied their techniques then I can’t see why they would ever fail.

I might appreciate a spear-fishing techniques and coconut cook book.

Good post Walt… the list could go on forever. I agree, the Bible would be my choice if I was stranded on the island… maybe a FHM magazine.Would not have much use for the 4 Hour Work Week… or How To Win Friends, etc if I was stuck on that island.Andrew

It's interesting to discover other people's influences. I was reminded of a few reads I need to re-visit, and a added a few to my ever expanding Amazon Wish List.

If you're a golfer, Golf in the Kingdom is a cult classic. Michael Murphy founded the Esalen Institute, and co-authored God and the Evolving Universe with James Redfield, the author of The Celestine Prophecy.

Great post. I’m an English major at a university in the Midwest and this post works very well with a book by Mark Edmundson called Why Read? The book basically states the same case you are making and causes the reader to reflect upon the books they have read that, in turn, have influenced their “final narrative.” I would say Joseph Heller’s Catch-22 and the many classics from author’s such as Camus, Proust, Browning and Wright.
